You made it! Your baby is turning one and is now not so much of a baby but rather an inquisitive toddler. This is a huge milestone for both you as a parent and your little one.
A very popular way to mark this milestone is with a cake smash session.
Cake smash sessions are lots of fun and can be very messy! We love to do some clean photos before getting the cake out that include parents and siblings. Once the clean photos are done it is time to get into the cake! A lot of children will happily go straight for the cake and get stuck into the icing however some children are a little reluctant to get too close. A trick I have found can help is to let your little one taste some cake before the session so they are used to the sweetness and texture. If your baby happens to not love the cake don’t stress! We can usually still get plenty of gorgeous images to capture this mile-stone.
After the cake smash you can choose to include a bubble bath. We will continue to photograph your bub as they splash and giggle. This is usually the favourite part of the session!

A booking fee of $150 is due at time of booking to secure your date. The fee is non-refundable but will be credited towards your chosen collection.

​When should I book?
The best time to book is close to your little ones first birthday. The exact timing will depend if you need to images in time for the first birthday party. If you require the images for invitations it is best to book early to allow enough time for the products to be delivered to you. Remember to book early to secure your preferred date and allow us time to plan the perfect session
What to wear?
Bubs cake smash outfit will depend on the look you would like for your photographs. Some suggestions for boys include: denim shorts, dress shorts or nappy covers with suspenders and bow tie, shorts in a coordinating colour to the cake smash set. Girls look cute in rompers, tutus or nappy covers with singlets. I work with some very tallented handmaidens who would be more than happy to help you create the perfect outfit for your session. We also have a limited range of outfits to choose from in the studio. If you need assistance choosing the perfect outfit for your baby's cake smash session I am happy to help.
Choosing outfits for the family photographs can be a daunting task but it doesn’t have to be. Firstly, it is important to feel comfortable in what you are wearing. Secondly choose colours that will complement each other and your home, avoiding logos and clashing patterns.
